Teachers Teaching Teachers at Shipley School
October 24, 2007

The Center's first event of the year, our annual evening of workshops called Teachers Teaching Teachers, was attended by over
190 teachers and administrators from public and independent schools in the tri-state area. It was an exciting evening of dialogue,
brainstorming and catching up with friends. Click here to see a list of the workshops that were presented.
Here is a description of some of the workshops that were offered.

TALKING CLASS ON CAMPUS

Zoe Greenberg, a junior at Springside School, presented her film on class issues in American society called Enough: A Kid's Perspective,
which received the 2007 Princeton Prize for Race Relations. In the film, she asks her peers penetrating questions about poverty, crime and how
Americans define and discuss class issues. Since making the film, Zoe has been involved with the activist group Class Action and her workshop
was based on curricular ideas they use in schools.

ACTION TOOLBOX FOR CHANGE

This fascinating workshop was presented by Lisa Jo Epstein, a Baldwin School graduate and the artistic director of the Gas & Electric Arts
community theater group based in Philadelphia. Epstein's work is inspired by the work of Brazilian theater activist Augusto Boal. She showed
how acting techniques can empower people to rethink the situations they are in and to effect change in a personal and community sense.
Her workshop was exciting and inspirational.

And no MCRC event would be complete without some time to see old friends and colleagues and to meet new ones. Participants
gathered in Shipley's Middle School before going to their workshops.
